The Digital India Movement initiated by the Govt. of India has made significant changes in the IT sector. We are witnessing tremendous improvement in the application of Information Technology (IT) in every Ministry and its organizations. Health is a major concern in India. Implementation of IT in healthcare is being accelerated to provide effective and better care for the citizens of India.
Ministry of Ayush has taken the initiative in healthcare Information technology implementation projects. In this regard, the Ministry of Ayush has created Ayush Grid (AG) to get all the IT projects under one umbrella. It is an integration of IT projects exclusively meant for the improvement and facilitation of Ayush pan India.
Ayush Suraksha
Ayush Suraksha is an Ayush-Vigibase which comprises Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani, and Homoeopathy pharmacovigilance database. Ayush is gaining worldwide impact. Simultaneously it covers all the aspects including vigilance over the Ayush Drugs and the ultimate target is “Patient Safety”.
In line with the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI), the Ayush Pharmacovigilance was launched with a broad objective to better Health care and warrant Patient Safety. Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs) are reported from all over the country to the National Pharmacovigilance Coordination Centre (NPvCC) - All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) through Peripheral Pharmacovigilance Centres (PPvCs) and Intermediary Pharmacovigilance Centres (IPvCs). This includes 05 Intermediary Pharmacovigilance Centers (IPvCs) and 97 Peripheral Pharmacovigilance Centers (PPvCs), from all the National Institutes, Research Councils, and Many Academic hospitals.
Ayush Suraksha is a comprehensive IT platform to effectively document all the suspected Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs) and capture all the Objectionable Advertisments(OAs) / Misleading Advertisements(MLAs). Ayush Suraksha was developed by Siddha Central Research Institute, Chennai under the Central Council for Research in Siddha, Ministry of Ayush, Govt. of India, and submitted to Ayush Grid.
Ayush Suraksha (Focussed Third Eye watch on Ayush Drugs for the betterment of Patient Safety) invites all the health care professionals and patients/consumers to join us in our mission to promote Patient Safety. Ayush is marching towards Good Pharmacovigilance Practices (GVP).
Pharmacovigilance
The quality issues and safety concerns of Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Homoeopathy Drugs have been raised from various sources. Ministry of Ayush felt Pharmacovigilance is necessary for the future development of the traditional system of medicine.
Pharmacovigilance Centres
Ministry of Ayush has introduced a Central Sector scheme for promoting pharmacovigilance of Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Homoeopathy (ASU&H) Drugs. The prime objective of the scheme is to develop a culture of documenting adverse effects and undertake safety monitoring of Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Homoeopathy drugs and surveillance of misleading advertisements appearing in the print and electronic media. The scheme intends to facilitate the establishment of a three-tier network of National Pharmacovigilance Centres (NPvCC), Intermediary Pharmacovigilance Centres (IPvCs) and Peripheral Pharmacovigilance Centres (PPvCs). All India Institute of Ayurveda, New Delhi, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Ayush, has been designated as the National Pharmacovigilance Centre for coordinating various activities of the initiative. In the initial phase of implementation, five (05) National Institutes of Ayush are designated as Intermediary Pharmacovigilance Centres (IPvCs) and 97 Peripheral Pharmacovigilance Centres (PPvCs) join this mission.
